Candidate FAQ

Who do I contact if I have a disability or impairment that might impact my ability to take the tests?

Please contact your recruiter or or the assessment team at Spotted Zebra directly (candidate@spottedzebra.co.uk)

What are the tests that I need to complete?

Depending on the assessment, you will be asked to complete one or more of the following:

1. A personality questionnaire. It is untimed, but most candidates complete this in around 10-15 minutes. The questionnaire asks about how you like to work, and your personal approach in different situations. To answer each question, you will need to select the extent to which you agree with each statement that is presented (from strongly agree to strongly disagree).

2. A logical reasoning test.  This test is timed.  The number of questions for this test varies, but this will be explained before you start.  You have up to 1 minute to answer each question.  Each question shows a pattern of shapes and you have to work out the next shape in the sequence.

3. A numerical reasoning test.  This test is timed.  The number of questions for this test varies, but this will be explained before you start.  You have up to 1 minute to answer each question.  Each question involves numerical calculations using data presented in graphs or charts.  You will need a calculator and rough paper for this test.

4. A verbal reasoning test.  This test is timed. The number of questions for this test varies, but this will be explained before you start.  You have up to 1 minute to answer each question.  In this assessment, you will be presented with passages of information and asked questions about these.

Instructions are provided before you start each test.

Why am I being asked to complete an online assessment?

As part of the recruitment process, our client uses online assessment tools to help identify the best candidate for the role. Research has shown that well designed psychometric tools combined with structured interviews are the best and fairest selection methods, and so we find this approach to be hugely beneficial.

These assessments will help us to get a more detailed understanding of how you like to work and we will use this as part of our interview process to help us select the right person for the role.

What do I need to take the assessments?

You can complete the assessment on any device, although a laptop is generally most appropriate given the format of this particular assessment.  You can take a break between completing the assessments, but once you have started one, you will need to complete it without interruption.

As general guidance we recommend finding a quiet place to take these tests.
